M is for...

Me Max!
People, it's my birthday!

I am turning one next week.

It's a big deal, people!  I have made myself very agressive in reminding everyone that I am ONE.  I am no longer just a little baby!

I am saying important words like "Stop!" and "Nana" (banana, of course).  I've been able to say "Mama," "Daddy," "Lila," and "Mudgie" (Marjorie) for a while now.  I also like to inform everyone when I am going to "did down" because I can do it all by myself.  Hey, and whenever I see a dog (or I want to see a dog), I tell everyone "woof!"  They usually get the picture.

My Mom is happy that I am mostly sleeping through the night all by myself, but sometimes I convince Daddy to let me into their bed.  There is just so much more room there for me to thrash around.  It's especially nice to put my feet up on Mommy or Daddy after I have kicked off all the covers.  Hehe!

I have been making some very important phone calls lately.  (hey, I am a Very Important Person).  I use Daddy's phone, my fisher price phone, the toy cup, my bowl, the tv remote, and any wooden spoon I can find.  So if you hear your dishes ringing, be assured it is me calling to tell you about my birthday next week.

Love, Max

My Teeth Hurt

Or rather my gums hurt.  I am finally getting my 2 front teeth!!!

Other things I am doing:

  • waving and saying "hi!" (to everything)
  • taking two step, then falling
  • signing eat, milk, and change
  • saying "mama and dada"
  • eating table food
  • not using my paci anymore
  • using the shape sorter
  • finding all the little bits of things people leave on the floor and finding out what they taste like.
Also, my hair is growing.  Finally.

New Friends

This week I started going over to a new friend's house while my mom is at work.  I like it there.  Margie is a really nice lady with blond hair.  She picks me up whenever I start to feel lonely.  But there are lots of new toys to explore and 3 new friends to play with!  My new friends are older than me by about a year, so they are showing me all I need to know about the toys. We get to go outside twice a day and we even get circle time.  My favorite thing to play with during circle time is the musical drum sticks.  They make a great sound.

So now I go to Margie's house two times a week and Marjorie and Naomi come to my house two times a week.

Being Sick is No Fun

My mom called the doctor because I've been really cranky the past couple of days.  I am pretty hot and I can't sleep well, and it's not because of my new teeth!  My mom said it's a virus and I just have to get over it.  She has been really nice to me though.  She let me sleep with her and gives me just about anything I want lately.  Too bad I feel so crummy I can't enjoy it.

First Steps

Today I took a step on my own.  But I was tricked into it!  I had a ball (my favorite green ball) and I gave it to my mom.  Because we play the game of give-it-to-her-she-gives-it-to-me.  I like that game!   But this time when I gave the ball to her, she held it out for me to get, but it not close enough.  Before I could think about it, I took a step to get it.  She tricked me!  when I realized what happed, I fell down. And cried a little.  I hate being tricked!

Pointers

I have discovered that my index finger is a very useful tool.  For the longest time, I have been trying to communicate that I WANT something, but nobody seems to understand me.  They hear me and turn and say something like: "Why are you yelling?" when they know perfectly well that I am yelling because thiey did not hear me the first time when I yelled for a cookie or a drink from their water bottle!  The nerve!  Well, to solve this problem, I have discovered that if I use my finger and point it at the thing I want, they understand!  Eureka!

So now I like to point and watch them all jump to get the thing I want!  It's a really fun game too, except Mama gets warn out and tired real fast.  Nevermind, cause it's fun while it lasts!

and PS.  Kevin, the pointing thing works pretty well when trying to get out of the "Play Pen!"  Also, try this, clapping and crying at the same time.  It's so cute nobody can stand it.  Eventually, some sucker is bound to take pity on you and rescue you from that dreadful place!

Hello to You, and You, and You, and You

Hi.  My name is Max and I am almost 10 months old.  I can't talk or write yet, but my mom thinks that this is what I would say if I could.

Today, after my sister left for school, I tried desperately to get into her room.  It is soooo cool in there!  Whenever I manage to sneak in I immediatly close the door.  That's what she does, so I figure I better follow suit.  Also, if the door is shut, I try really hard to reach the knob.  And when that doesn't work to let me in, I just resort to the good old stand-by of banging REALLY LOUD on the door.  Sometimes I yell too.  "LA-LI-LA!"  My dad understands this, so he let's me in.  He's good that way!
