The camping trip was.........................buggy. It was also exhausting. Oi. Other than that, i finished swimming and got a trophy for backstroke and competitiveness(sp?). I am going to an end-of-year-dance in which i hope to do something weird, not much hope. HP bookclub might not happen next week. Getting terrific grades. Slept in math and then told off Mr. Rodgriguez in pig latin for waking me up by throwing a marker cap at me (grrrrrrrr). Loved science for reasons I will not say. We did bacteria today using a petri dish. Was awsome. My bacteria (from the water fountain) turned Navy blue. It was awsome. Can't wait for my birthday. Oh yeah, and half of the school started crying and complaining when Ms. Ward and Ms. Dugan decided that they would ditch us to go move in August. I have hardened from middle school so i didn't cry in the term everyone is thinking. Tears started pouring down m face because Ms. Dugan and Ms. Ward were probably some of the nicest, funniest, calmest and most creative teachers ever. It was very sad. Kinda sad that im leaving all my friends next year, they were all great. I loved the Computer School and would love to come back. But if I wanna be a marine biologist working for the Navy I gotta take the better school *sigh*. Gotta go, love you all for reading (you:um.....ok?)

Brown Baggin' it

So the new work environment leaves a bit to be desired. I'm stationed NOT in Manhattan, but at the shop just outside of the city. They say "eventually" I will have an office in the NY office, but for the first 6 months or so, I'll be doing the reverse commute. Yuck.

So, that brings me to a little subject I call lunch. In Manhattan, there are choices everywhere and I've gotten used to that! Will it be Chinese or Indian today? Chopt salad or Soupman? Pizza or sushi? At my new area? Korean deli or Ghetto Deli? Hmmmm. It looks like I may be brown baggin it out of necessity rather than budget.

Update

My baby tuned one last week. I started a working at a company with benefits. Ekat interviews for a summer research group next week. I had a blast! Then, tonight we just finished a dinner of indian food, which I have never really liked, but this time, to my suprise I found many that were great! Other than that, I got to visit the New York City Federal Court and act as a lawyer for the government. (we were arguing that a newspaper does or does not have the right to print a cetain arctile, will not go into the subject) And we got to see a real courtroom! It was.......intimidating. and Make Love Not Debt. (also on my blogroll.) All this talk because we REALLY want to own our own place. And not just anywhere, but, here in Manhattan.

This week our rental management company finally had some workers come and paint the bathroom. Wow, is it ever so much better! The steam valve had been broken for so long that it encouraged mildew and mold to grow on every wall and much of the ceiling. To make a long story short, they finally fixed all that stuff in the bathroom, but it got me thinking about how much I wanted to change much about my apartment (especially the lack of washer/dryer!) and so that set us all off in the direction of buying a place to call our own and being able to put a W/D in it. Not to mention dishwasher. And Eliza wants her own floor and moped (ha!). So, I guess that means we want to buy a brownstone...

So, now back to the personal finance thing. We are going to have to save a lot of money to make this dream happen. I've been meaning to put us on a financial diet for a while, but now, perhaps we will actually have the will power to make it stick.

Wish us luck!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SLEEPY!!!!!!!!

If you were expecting a "lovely long article, so that'll be very..." (-Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, Luna Lovegood) then sorry to burst your bubble, and my sleep conditions. We get to go outside twice a day and we even get circle time. My favorite thing to play with during circle time is the musical drum sticks. They make a great sound.

So now I go to Margie's house two times a week and Marjorie and Naomi come to my house two times a week.

Being Sick is No Fun

My mom called the doctor because I've been really cranky the past couple of days. I am pretty hot and I can't sleep well, and it's not because of my new teeth! My mom said it's a virus and I just have to get over it. She has been really nice to me though. She let me sleep with her and gives me just about anything I want lately. Too bad I feel so crummy I can't enjoy it.

First Steps

Today I took a step on my own. But I was tricked into it! I had a ball (my favorite green ball) and I gave it to my mom. Because we play the game of give-it-to-her-she-gives-it-to-me. I like that game! But this time when I gave the ball to her, she held it out for me to get, but it not close enough. Before I could think about it, I took a step to get it. She tricked me! when I realized what happed, I fell down. I AM GOING TO HUNTER! WOOOOHOOOO! I went to the open house and they totally convinced me! I mean, normal schools have 8 hours a regular day, they have 5!
And they get a free period, lunch out every day and the first wednesday of every month is a half day!!!! Some people at the Computer School are very sad to see me go and, yes, most threatened to tie me down with duck tape to my chair, but I think that everyone understand in the entirety. Accept Vicky, she swore that she would stalk me for the rest of my life, but.......? I stayed up till past 11 on tursday night, no thanks to ANY of m teachers. I was so ired the next day , that I ell asleep in Science. Which isn't that hard to do, seeing as it's um... BORING!!!!!! Wanting pet more than ever, especially a cat.I also went to see the eye doctor, he says that my eyes were fine despite the fact that they're black. But, the swelling went down and I can see! So, thank God.

Love Ya all!

Pointers

I have discovered that my index finger is a very useful tool. For the longest time, I have been trying to communicate that I WANT something, but nobody seems to understand me. They hear me and turn and say something like: "Why are you yelling?" when they know perfectly well that I am yelling because thiey did not hear me the first time when I yelled for a cookie or a drink from their water bottle! The nerve! Well, to solve this problem, I have discovered that if I use my finger and point it at the thing I want, they understand! Eureka!

So now I like to point and watch them all jump to get the thing I want! It's a really fun game too, except Mama gets warn out and tired real fast. Nevermind, cause it's fun while it lasts!

and PS. Kevin, the pointing thing works pretty well when trying to get out of the "Play Pen!" Also, try this, clapping and crying at the same time. It's so cute nobody can stand it. Eventually, some sucker is bound to take pity on you and rescue you from that dreadful place!

Back to Full Time Work

So I guess it's back to work for me. I just got confirmation that my next project will be 4 or 5 days a week until the end of May. My fun time being a stay at home mom is over... at least until June. Actually, it's good news cause I was going just a tad bit stir crazy. T can tell you!

I've had such a good time hanging with M and E these past 10 months! I have checked out all the cool new mom spots on the UWS, gone to the lunches, hung out in the park, museums, coffee shops, other mom's homes, and watching and experiencing all of M's "firsts". It's also been cool to be home when E is back from school. This is the first year that she has EVER been able to just GO HOME after school. She even opted not to do much in the way of afterschool activities. It's phenomenal how fast time flies, but I feel like it was time well spent.

There were other things I wanted to tackle but didn't (or haven't)... budget, diet, date night... hmmm, I guess those are works in progress!

Living Space

I was going to post about this the other day and somehow forgot. It seems a little irrelevent now that I am over my frustration. Although, it's a very real reoccuring issue... but, I'm going to keep the big picture in mind - HOME OWNERSHIP. this apartment is just a phase. It's just a phase.

A phase I wish I were through already!
